In Dakar, the Minister chaired the national workshop on local investment in oil and gas operations, calling on employers' organisations, the private sector and financial institutions to reach the target of 50% local content by 2030.
The Minister visited the West African Energy plant — 366 MW, nearly a quarter of national capacity and wholly owned by Senelec — Elton's regasification facilities at Cap des Biches, and the site of the future gas terminal at Môle 8 in the Port of Dakar, due in 2027: a further step towards energy sovereignty.
Received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the Minister coordinated the follow-up of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas project: talks with BP on domestic gas, the customs protocol and the project's tax framework.
Continuing his introductory tour of the sector's institutions, the Minister visited the National Agency for Renewable Energy, the Senegal Gas Network and the national EITI Committee, guarantor of transparency in the extractive industries.
